Aunty Elsie Ryder from Alu Like first came to Field School to teach us about identity and having pride in what makes us who we are and our heritage. She also came to Field School and taught us an important oli about our home, Nanakuli and about ohe kapala, which is the stamp used for kapa printing. We also learned how to make 'uala pesto, which is a healthy and easy snack. We enjoyed having aunty Elsie come into our class during the summer because she taught us a lot of native Hawaiian values and how not to be afraid of who we are and where we come from.
